What is justified in the name of love? Taapsee Pannu raises this valid question in the poster of her upcoming movie, Thappad, directed by Anubhav Sinha.
Taapsee’s project would be exploring the biased world of gender dynamics and one might also draw connections with her breakout movie Pink.
Going by the poster, we can surely expect some strong content posing serious questions involving the role of genders in our society.
Sharing her first look in Thappad, Taapsee wrote, “Kya yeh bas itni si baat hai? Kya pyaar mein ye bhi jayaz hai? Yeh #Thappad Ki pehli Jhalak hai! #Thappadfirstlook.”
The poster shows a close up of Taapsee’s face after she has been slapped hard by someone. Well, the makers will be sharing the trailer with the viewers tomorrow and we can’t wait to see it.
Just after we saw the poster, we couldn’t help but take it as a perfect antidote to Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh which was bashed for glorifying misogyny. Turns out, social media users are also thinking on the same lines and are wondering how Shahid would react to this.
If you remember, Taapsee had taken a potshot at Kabir Singh with scathing sarcasm. In one of the interviews, she had said, “Kabir Singh and Arjun Reddy are not the only films glorifying misogyny, there are several others too but not to this extent. That is one of the reasons why I do the kind of films I do, there should be a counter-narrative too.”
Talking about the movie, Taapsee had told PTI, “Working with Anubhav sir is always an enriching experience and he encourages one to push the envelope. When he discussed Thappad, I immediately decided this was a film I had to do. It has a thought-provoking storyline and deals with a subject that must be addressed in our society. To put it in perspective, looking at what we aim to convey with our film, I can say Thappad is this year’s Pink.”
