Apple HomePod Has Finally Launched In India And It’s Cheaper Than What It Costs In The US

After over two years since the HomePod made its debut in the US, Apple has finally decided to start selling them in India. That’s right, you can now buy Apple’s HomePod smart speaker in the country in case you don’t already own a smart speaker.

Apple’s HomePod, for those of you who don’t know, is a smart wireless speaker that responds to “Hey Siri” voice commands. Apple also promises to deliver a super-rich sound experience from a body that’s just 7-inches tall.

The HomePod, though it looks very small, packs a woofer for deep bass along with seven small tweeters. Additionally, it also packs an array of six microphones, which allows it to listen to the user’s voice commands from anywhere in the room. The speaker is powered by Apple’s A8 chipset.

One of the highlights of the speaker is that its equipped with spatial awareness, so it can automatically tune itself to give you an optimal audio experience based on the surroundings. You can also pair multiple HomePod speakers together for a stereo experience.

Pricing & Availability
Apple decided to quietly launch the product through its website. The HomePod page is now live on the official Apple India website. The HomePod smart speaker will be available for Rs 19,900 in India, which makes it cheaper than its US pricing of $299 (roughly Rs 21,000).

Apple also rolled out the iOS/iPadOS 13.3.1 software for iPhones and iPad and it introduces compatibility for Indian English Siri voices for the HomePod. So if you are planning to buy it in India, you’ll be able to hear Siri’s Indian accent. That being said, we still don’t know when it’ll be available to purchase, so stay tuned for more info.
